Manitoba RCMP‘s new commanding officer has only been in the job for a week and a half, but she’s already enjoying her time in the province and has big plans for the future.

Assistant Commissioner Jane MacLatchy is the first woman to command Manitoba’s Mounties in the service’s almost 90-year history.

She replaced former assistant commissioner Scott Kolody, who stepped down from his role in late January after a 34-year RCMP career.

“One of the things we see is you can’t just arrest your way out of these things.
